(in cooperation with World Tourism Organization)
This year tourism is on track to achieve full recovery but realizing Destination 2030 will mean investing in three imperatives — reinvigorating growth, improving livelihoods, and protecting nature and culture. Aligning policies, business operations, and investments with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can contribute to more innovative tourism business models. Around the world, there are examples of how the sector is putting solutions in place to balance the needs of people and the planet, and to drive prosperity.
In cooperation with UNWTO, this high-level session brings together leaders from across the public and private sectors to explore how they are stepping up ambition to embrace forward-looking policies and strategies that pursue growth and sustainable development —to build a better tourism sector. As the global tourism economy renews its purpose, how can the sector seize new opportunities? What are global examples of new sustainable development models? How can the sector attract new investments that work for people and the planet? What strategies and policies are being implemented or need to be enacted to embrace high-quality development? How can the sector scale up sustainability and resiliency? How can cooperation across regions and across sectors advance tourism’s recovery?
